| Site Overview |
|
Here’s a look at how the site is organized. Only a tiny amount of the content is in place right now, but here’s some of what we have planned: Home contains the latest news on recent additions to the site. New content will be added at least once a week. Style will introduce the history of anime and manga, and examine in depth what makes it different from Western comics and cartoons. Tools covers pencils, pens, erasers, paper and other essential tools for the artist, and focuses on those items that are most commonly used by manga and anime artists. Basics illustrates the core skills of drawing in the anime style. Exercises will be provided to help the reader practice these essential skills. People focuses on the most challenging yet rewarding subject—people! While we’ll spend some time on the basics of drawing the human form, much of the information will center on achieving proper anime/manga stylizations. Some of the content in this section will be freely available, while other parts will require a subscription to access. Backgrounds will look at how to design and create environments, props and effects for your characters. Interviews provides a unique glimpse into the personal histories of several manga and anime artists including how they themselves learned to draw and what it’s like to work in their field. Resources will include an exhaustive Glossary of anime and manga terms covering all the key terms used on the site and many others that you are likely to encounter. Both English and Japanese terms will be included. Store provides secure online shopping for our exclusive T-shirts, mugs and other goods. It will also be the home of special sales events, like our annual shikishi (autograph board) auction. |
